The Secret of Best Paintball Balls to Buy

With so many options to choose from, it can be difficult to find the right paintball balls for your gun and game format. Especially when there are different suitable choices for paintball, woodsball, and speedball.

This article is designed to help you find the best paintball balls for your particular needs. It’s filled with helpful tips and detailed product reviews which will help you make an informed decision about what brand of paintballs you want to buy online.

When choosing a paintball ball, it’s important to consider not only its quality but also how much money you’ll save by buying the perfect brand.

Paintballs are the ammunition used in paintball markers or guns. They are made from biodegradable gelatin and water and filled with non-toxic paint. They are usually colored and spherical, with dimples that generally make them look like a little marble.

Paintballs can be bought in different sizes and shapes, which are mainly designed for specific purposes. Their quality is judged by the kind of paint they contain, the shape of their dimples, the number of dimples they possess, and their ability to break easily on impact.

I have selected a couple of the brands as tested and approved after my detailed assessment.

Tournament paintballs Recommendation

I recommend Valken Graffiti Paintballs as the best tournament-grade paintballs. They are well priced and more accurate than some of the contemporary brands available online.

Training Level Paintballs Recommendation

I found Wearable 4U .50 Caliber Rubber PaintBalls suitable for training purposes and improving aiming. These are also one of the finest training balls for speedball.

Types of Paintballs

There are different types of paintballs on the market, but not all of them work well in all conditions. You need to have a clear understanding of what kind of paintballs you can use in different situations so you always have the right kind of ammunition on hand.

The best paintballs for woodsball and speedball are completely different from each other, but there are some similarities between them. Speedball rounds tend to be larger than woodsball rounds, so they’re easier to see when you’re shooting at someone in another room or a darkened area.

They also tend to be more expensive than woodsball rounds, so it’s important to know exactly how much money you want to spend before buying them.

In general, woodsball players use cheaper paintballs with a higher break rate for their games. Speedball players tend to use more expensive paintballs that break less.

There are several other types of paintballs too:

Recreational

Recreational paintballs are the most common. They are appropriate for players who play on a budget, considering their low price. The shells of recreational paintballs are made from gelatin and they tend to break easier than other types of paintballs, but they are still the perfect choice for woodsball and speedball gameplay.

Tournament

Tournament paintballs are also known as “competition grade” balls, and they tend to cost more than recreational paintballs per bag. Even though they break easier than other types of balls, tournament paintballs have a brighter fill color, making them easier to see in competition games. These balls have a more rigid shell, which makes them more accurate because they don’t deform when fired from the barrel.

Field Grade

Field grade paintballs tend to be the least expensive type of balls available on the market. They are almost identical to recreational balls in their design and components, but they may not have been properly tested before being sold to consumers. Most field-grade paintballs can still be shot from any type of marker without issue.

Wood Balls

Woodsball paintballs are also known as “heavy-duty” or “tactical”.

Top 8 paintball balls – Reviews

The right quality paintballs will help you enjoy the game and avoid unnecessary injuries. If you’re looking to buy paintballs, there are many options available in the market. To choose the best paintballs you have to consider different factors such as price, size, quality, etc.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a pro player or a beginner, if you want to get the maximum out of your paintball gun, then you need to have the right paintballs.

A good quality paintball will maximize your gaming experience. So, I have come up with the best paintballs available on Amazon.com

1. Valken Infinity Paintballs – 68cal – 2,000ct – Orange-Orange Fill

BEST FOR ENTRY-LEVEL
9.1/10 Our Score
  • Brand: Valken
  • Color: Black
  • Item Weight: 1 Pound

These virgin ribbon balls are best for woodsball and recreational play. The product has an average customer rating of 4.5/5 and is one of the popular choices of players.

When I was thinking about reviewing some of the best choices across the online market, Valken Paintballs in orange color was my first choice. They are bright and more clearly visible ok the targets. After reading some of the product reviews I was somehow uncertain about the shell quality and packaging of the paintballs sets.

But they came well packed and subtle. And I was happy with my purchase.

These are oil-based paintballs. These happen to be very oily. I used them for my recreational paintball matches and the results were encouraging. When I used them to target my opponents, they were quite good and accurate up to 70-80 feet. Which was quite a great factor for an entry-level paintball.

Valken Infinity Paintballs - 68cal - 2,000ct - Orange-Orange Fill - best paintballs describing balls

And this encouraged me to use them in my woodsball matches. As anticipated, Valken paintballs are suitable for woodball. The key reason is that these are comparatively less expensive than some other paints available in the market.

I received balls in robust shells that were properly packed. I had a hopper-fed marker and these paintballs were suitable to use in that marker.

So if you really want inexpensive beginner-level paintballs for your marker, then be sure to buy these for yourself.

I personally recommend these oil-based paintballs for all entry-level woodsball players.

It would be a great purchase if you are looking for less costly options.

Some key positive and negative points of these paintball are;

Pros
  • Comes with a paintball tank protective cover
  • Value for money
  • Easy refill mechanism
  • Doesn’t leak
Cons
  • Heavyweight
  • Very basic Tank
  • might come defective

2. Valken Infinity Paintballs – 68cal – 2,000ct – White-White Fill

BEST FOR FED MAKERS
9.8/10 Our Score
  • Brand: Valken
  • Fill Color: White
  • Item Weight: 1 Pound

These Infinity thicker shell paintballs are from Valken. This product has a Global customer rating of 4.4 /5.

I usually buy bright-colored filled paintballs for myself. But a few weeks ago I noticed that most of the players were using the same pink, orange or yellow colored paintballs on the field. And it was not very clear whom I hit during the matches. So I decided to buy white-colored balls this time. So I can keep a track of how many balls were shot accurately on the target.

And the balls came in somehow transparent white shells. Unlike the orange-colored from Valken, these had thicker shells. Some of the balls were still busted inside the package. But I don’t mind that. But thicker shells somehow decreased the accuracy of the balls.

And the balls vary in accuracy. Some couldn’t even break on target and some could break inside the barrel. So to avoid breaking balls in the barrel I figured out a way. That by filling the magazine to its capacity, you too can avoid the breakage inside the barrel.

I faced another major issue while using my magazine gun. They were simply not working with that marker. Though they did well with the hopper-fed marker. So if you have a magazine-fed gun, avoid buying these for yourself.

I recommend these paintballs to all those who have hopper fed markers. These are also one of the best balls for Tippmann markers.

Some key positive and negative points of these paintball are;

Pros
  • Medium Quality balls
  • Bright White color fill
  • Round shaped
  • Good coverage
Cons
  • Thicker shells
  • Not suitable for mag fed guns
  • Vary in accuracy

3. AOOHYEO Reusable 0.68 Caliber Paintballs – 100 New Re-Usable Rubber Training Elastic Balls Paint Balls

HIGH SHOOTING ACCURACY
9.2/10 Our Score
  • Brand: Aoohyeo
  • Color: Green, Blue, Pink, Yellow
  • Item Weight: 0.32 kgs

Aoohyeo’s reusable rubber paintballs are for beginner-level players. These rubber balls have a Global rating of 4.5/5 and are considered one of the useful options for practicing.

I bought these rubber elastic paintballs for one of my students who had poor aiming and shooting skills. So I got a pack of 100 for him. These are low-cost and functional balls for improving shooting and aiming. Another positive point was that these can be used 100s of times unless you lose them somewhere. And if they get dirty, you can simply wash them and reuse them.

I found these great for indoor as well as outdoor practice. Unlike other cheap paintballs, these could move in a straight line and had better accuracy.

AOOHYEO Reusable 0.68 Caliber Paintballs describing paintballs

One thing to mention here is that these are almost the same weight and size as paintball Saints are. Though it was mentioned that these are Riot paintballs so I have some safety suspicions. But upon using them I found them non-lethal. So if you want to buy these for your kids or younger players, don’t worry about the safety.

Another plus point is that these are compatible with almost all 0.68 caliber markers. Since these are rubber made so sometimes they can jam your marker but using it carefully can minimize such a chance.

The only major drawback is they usually don’t break on impact. So leave no mark on the target.

So these are not suitable for the field but good for practicing.

I recommend these reusable balls to all the players who are just starting or want to improve their shooting accuracy. These are equally usable for indoor as well as outdoor practice.

These balls too have some positive and negative points;

Pros
  • Suitable for outdoor and indoor practice
  • Easy to Clean
  • Multipurpose balls
  • Non-lethal balls
Cons
  • Can sometimes jam the marker
  • Doesn’t break on impact so leaves no mark

4. Loader Paintball 500 Rounds Basic Training Paintballs – .68 Caliber – Basic Training Paintballs come in different bright colors

SUITABLE FOR KIDS
9.1/10 Our Score
  • Brand: Loader
  • Color: Multi-color
  • Item Weight: 1.7 kgs

These orange or yellow-filled paintballs come in packages of 500 rounds. And the product has a Global customer rating of 4.5 /5.

I ordered these training rounds for my personal use. And what I received was a complete mess. The balls came in an off-white color and most of them were burst. It was quite shocking for me. But I immediately contacted the brand. And they were happy to accept a return.

In compensation, they sent me another pack of 500 rounds in Green color. I believe that they have different colors so you just expect any color variations other than yellow and orange.

Loader Paintball 500 Rounds Basic Training Paintballs describing shoots.

Now let’s get back to the point. And let me tell you about the quality of these paintball rounds. They came in hard shells and had great accuracy. When I used them during one of my matches, it was great to see they landed right on the target.

The price is also very good for 500 rounds of good quality paint. I was happy for another reason paintball residual paint was also very easy to clean unlike other contemporary paints available on the market.

So if you are planning to buy an inexpensive brand for your practice sessions, you must be sure of good quality.

I found these paintball training balls suitable for all kids. As these are completely non-lethal and easy to clean. You can use these for indoor games as well.

I have listed some major advantages and disadvantages of the Product below;

Pros
  • Nice hard-shelled balls
  • Inexpensive Choice
  • Easy to clean the stains
  • Great accuracy
Cons
  • Color may Vary
  • May come poorly packed or damaged

FOR PRO PLATERRS
9.6/10 Our Score

  • Color: Blue
  • Item Weight: 0.39 kgs

These paintballs are known for their high-quality performance in all types of markers under all game conditions. Umarex premium paintballs have an average rating of 4.6/5.

These are the first on my list under 0.43 caliber ammo. And I found them perfect at first look. I received the package well packed. Not even a single round was broken in the container. (Which is quite surprising as all other brands were using average or low-quality packaging.)

These paints are a little more expensive than other options available in the market. But definitely a value for money. As they work well for the purpose.

I used them for my .43 caliber gun and found them accurate and functional.

Umarex T4E Premium .43 Caliber Paintballs describing aqua balls

Another positive point about these paintball balls is that they are suitable for all paintball game formats, even speedball as well. Umarex paintballs are of premium quality and work well for airsoft as well.

These balls have great accuracy over a long distance and their shells are pretty subtle. Which helps them move in line. They break easily on impact which makes them more functional.

These are great quality premium paintballs. I recommend these balls to all pro players or everyone who is looking for a high-quality choice.

Here I have listed some major advantages and disadvantages of the Product;

Pros
  • Subtle shells
  • Multipurpose paintballs
  • Nice container packaging
  • Good quality balls
Cons
  • A bit expensive

6. GI Sportz XBALL Certified Midnight Paintballs – Suitable for tournament practice, Scenario Games

FOR SCENARIO GAME PALYERS
9.4/10 Our Score
  • Brand: GI Sportz
  • Color: Aqua
  • Item Weight: 3.9 lbs

GI Sportz paintballs are suitable for general play, scenario games, and tournament practice. These balls have an average rating of 4.7 /5.

I bought them for my upcoming tournament practice. And found them as nice low-medium quality balls. A good choice for velocity adjustments and target practice. And helped me improve my skills before the tournament.

Now I just want to highlight some of the major points about my personal experience with these balls.

For the packaging and shipping, I feel like it’s a hit or miss kind of situation. It really depends on luck if you receive these paints firm and in shape or broken. I received my package with a few balls broken inside the package and there was some mess around. But I think it’s normal and quite acceptable for inexpensive paint.

I suggest that you too expect a messy package if you order these. I guess the brand could have done better with shell quality to avoid breakage during the shipment.

Other than this breakage issue these paintballs are multipurpose balls and are suitable for slingshot and scenarios games.

I recommend these paintballs to all the players who are more into scenario games or tournaments.

Pros
  • Good be a good gift
  • Inexpensive
  • Can be effectively used for velocity adjustments
  • Suitable to use as a slingshot paintball
Cons
  • May come dented or partially broken
  • Can break inside barrel too

7. Wearable4U .50 Caliber Rubber Balls – Training soft rubber balls for paintball guns

FOR SPEEDBALL PLAYERS
9.4/10 Our Score
  • Brand: Wearable4U
  • Type: Rubber Balls
  • Item Weight: 0.14 kgs

These reusable rubber balls come in sizes of 100, 250, and 500 rounds. These are training balls and don’t come with a paint fill. The product has a Global product rating of 4.7/5.

The first thing I want to mention about these reusable rubber balls is that they hurt on impact. Yes, you heard it right. They hurt a bit more than normal paints and if you are not wearing proper gear during the practice, they can injure you as well.

Though these are not very lethal still it’s possible to get maimed by these balls.

I ordered these paintballs on Amazon for my fellow beginner players to present as a gift. And I received them properly packed. The balls came exactly in standard 0.50 caliber size. And are suitable for all 0.5 guns and revolvers. You can buy them for T4E .50 revolvers and guns as well.

Wearale4U .50 Caliber Rubber Balls describes the balls

I have noticed another positive feature that I discovered while using them in my marker. That no oil or publication is required to use these balls. They simply fit into magazines and work fine on shooting. Unlike other rubber balls, these usually don’t jam the barrel or magazine.

My fellow beginner players effectively used these balls for improving their aiming at the target. And you can effortlessly shoot fast and straight shots with these.

Overall a good choice for all paintball game formats especially speedball.

Due to its bright color and vitality based on my testing, I recommend these as training balls to speedball players.

Below are some drawbacks and benefits of purchasing these balls;

Pros
  • Can be used multiple times
  • Suitable as speedball training balls
  • Fast Straight Shot
  • Great for improving aiming
  • Simple to utilize making it reasonable for starter player
  • Requires insignificant maintenance
  • Noted to keep going for quite a long time
Cons

I found these balls compatible with hopper and mag-fed paintball guns upon testing.

I’ve used other types of Valken paintballs but these Graffiti balls are surely one of the best in the Valken series. I can safely profess that these balls are certainly more durable and accurate than some of the other tournament-grade balls on the market.

Valken Graffiti Paintballs describing balls

One major drawback is that some of the balls were deformed or cracked in the package. Though none of them were broken. Another possible negative point for some of the players is that the fill color is not exactly bright yellow. I don’t mind its present color which is mint green but some of you might take it as a negative point.

Detailed Buying guide to Choose Best Paintball in 2023

The best paintball balls to buy online are the ones that meet your needs.

There isn’t a single type of paintball ball that is better than another. There are several factors that one should take into account when looking for the best quality paintballs.

Don’t settle for any old paintball that you find at the local sporting goods store. Don’t ever settle for a paintball that is just good enough, when you can have an incredible paintball. It’s not worth it. You will be so much more satisfied if you choose the right balls.

You may think it’s a lot of work to look through all of the best quality paintballs and find the right one for you. But it’s not as difficult as you might think. You don’t need to go out and buy all of the balls yourself, spending all that money and hitting all those stores. That would be a hassle and a waste of money, too!

That’s why I’ve put together this guide: to help you find the perfect paintball, without all that time and effort. I’ll show you how easy it is to buy good quality paintballs online!

Here’s a quick look at some of the important factors you need to consider before buying paintballs online:

Price

When shopping for paintball balls, price is always a factor. It’s important to consider how many paintballs you want (or need), as well as how much money you want to spend. If you are a beginner I would recommend reaching for entry-level paintballs only. Later you can switch to more expensive choices available.

Another factor is that if you buy in bulk, you get more reasonable pricing. So you can go for packages of 500-1000 rather than buying 100-250 balls each time.

Quality

If you’re looking for the best quality balls, then it’s important that you go with a high-quality brand. You can find this information on my list of the best 8 paintball balls or by asking around in your local field/area. Some companies offer a variety of different brands, while others specialize in only one type of brand.

Size

It’s important to buy the right size of paintball balls. The best type of paintballs for your game is one that matches the size of your gun and the type of paintball game you play.

Paintball balls come in different sizes and shapes, each with its own unique benefits. The most common type is the .68 caliber ball (68 calibers), which is ideal for all types of markers.

There are .50 and .43 caliber markers and balls as well. Make sure to see your gun before placing an order.

The material used

The best paintballs to buy online should be produced using only high-quality ingredients because they will affect how well your game goes. Paintballs that have been manufactured using substandard components may break inside the barrel of your gun or fail to break when they hit your opponent’s body.

Additionally, bad quality balls can cause serious injuries to players if they happen to burst at close range.

Accuracy and Durability

To improve your shooting and aiming skills, you need a more accurate and durable type of paintballs. Less accurate paintballs usually don’t hit the target and end up wasted on the field. So always buy brands offering more accuracy and durability of the balls.

By considering all these factors, you can choose the best quality paintball for your needs. But if you still have any confusion about the types of paintballs or the right choice in the market, read on to know more.

FAQs:

Are Paintballs Edible?

If you are wondering, can you eat paintballs?
The answer is certainly NO.
In general, paintballs are not edible (though they are technically food). They’re meant to break on impact, so they’d be difficult to eat. Additionally, as noted above, they’re not meant to be eaten in the first place. Even if you wash a paintball under running water, it’s still going to taste like paint.
Interesting Fact: Paintballs are not edible, but there is a foodie movement around them. Some people have tried eating paintballs and said they taste like chalk. But there are some chefs who make colorful dishes using food coloring and gelatin to mimic the look of paintballs.

Are Paintballs Biodegradable?

Shell-based paintballs are biodegradable and non-toxic. They usually break down naturally within two-three weeks.

Are Paintballs toxic to Dogs?

In the first place, paintball ingredients are not toxic. But they can be osmotically active materials that can draw fluid away from the body of dogs into the intestinal tract. And result in a life-threatening situation

Do they expire?

If paintballs are stored in a cool and dry place, they can last up to one year. But it really depends on the quality of the paints. as some low-quality or cheaper paints might not work after a few months.

Final Words of the Expert

To summarize the whole above discussion and reviews, I would like to conclude with the final words. Choosing the right balls for your desired game format is crucial to have the best game experience. Look through the above mentioned points in the buying guide, carefully before making a final buying decision.
