👉 DIY Paintball Grenade with Air Compressor

Making paintball grenades is simple, cheap, and fun. The best part is that the project can be completed in a matter of hours with materials that can be purchased at any hardware store.

The first method includes some ingredients and tools to make your working paintball grenades.

Materials:

  1. Empty 2-liter soda or water bottles (2)
  2. Heavy-duty aluminum foil or duct tape
  3. Plastic tubing (cut to length)
  4. A tennis ball or rubber ball (with fuzz removed)
  5. Ping-pong balls (2)
  6. Air compressor or bike pump

Tools:

  1. Drill
  2. ¼” drill bit
  3. Utility Knife

Step 1: Collect together all the pieces you need to make a paintball grenade. You will need an empty soda bottle, preferably one with a wide opening and a short neck. The wider the opening, the more paintballs that will be able to fit inside the grenade, and the shorter the neck, the less time it will take for them to come out of it.

A 2 liter soda or water bottle is ideal for this. You will also need a screw-top lid and some duct tape or other strong adhesive.

Step 2: Cut off the bottom of the soda bottle so that you are left with a tube shape with a wide-open mouth. Make sure that you cut cleanly so that there are no sharp edges, as they could injure someone if they were to get hit by it.

Step 3: Fill your grenade with paintballs. You should fill it until there is enough space left at the top for them to bounce around in when you shake it up, but not so much that they are very loose inside of it.

Step 4: Put on your screw cap lid and secure it in place with duct tape or another strong adhesive such as super glue or industrial-strength epoxy resin (I personally prefer to use duct tape).

Step 5: Now to use the grenade, shake the bottle with consistency and force. And sharply and sim at your required target and launch. It’ll burst with a loud sound blasting the paintball filled in it.

👉 Making Your Paintball Grenades with Light Stick

This is my second favorite method to make paintball grenades at home with a light stick.

Ingredients:

  1. One light stick, preferably of an intense color (green, yellow, orange)
  2. One empty water bottle
  3. Several zip ties
  4. Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  5. Scissors or pliers to cut the zip ties from the finished device

Instructions/Steps to Follow When Making a Paintball Grenade:

Step 1: Fill the water bottle with water to a quarter of its volume, then drop in the light stick.

Step 2: Replace the cap. Secure it against falling out, by using a hot glue gun to fix the stick in place.

Step 3: Use several zip ties to seal up the bottle securely. This helps ensure that all the paint splatters in one direction when you throw it. Allow the glue to dry.

Step 4: Cut off any excess zip ties using scissors or pliers. Your grenade is ready for battle.

👉 Making DIY CO2 Paintball Grenade

One of the most powerful paintball grenades is made with CO2, HEX nuts, and PVC caps.

Materials:

  1. PVC caps
  2. Hex nuts
  3. Paintballs
  4. Tape
  5. Threading tape
  6. Needle-nosed pliers
  7. Wire cutters
  8. CO2 tank with a fill adapter and hose

Procedure:

Step 1: Use a needle-nose plier to remove the hex nut from the PVC cap.

Step 2: With a pencil, trace a circle around the hole of the PVC cap. Cut out the hole with a drill bit. Do not make it too big — you want it just large enough to fit over the end of your barrel, but small enough to create a seal.

A tight seal is important so that no gas leaks out when you fire your gun.

Step 3: Replace the hex nut with the PVC cap — this will prevent any paintballs from leaking out of your grenade before it’s triggered. Use threading tape to wrap around both threads (the PVC cap and hex nut). This will also help develop an airtight seal for your paintball grenade.

Step 4: Fill the PVC cap about two-thirds full with paintballs. At this point, you may wish to put on some goggles and protective clothing, as there is now potential for injury when loading or firing your grenade.

Step 5: Connect your air compressor or CO2 tank to your fill adapter and hose. Position one end of the hose in the liquid, and the other edge into your grenade (the threaded end).

Fill with gas until you see bubbles coming out of the top of your grenade, indicating that it’s full of gas and ready to go!

All my DIY paintball grenade-making methods work successfully and safely.
